INNKEEPERS ( 7 Month Contract, LELAND)
Ready for a unique new adventure at an iconic waterfront hotel? Have you always wanted to work with your spouse or significant other? Do you like to work really hard when the sun is shining, but also earn a lot of time off for the winter months?
We have an opening for an innkeeper couple at the Whaleback Inn. This is a 7 month contract position (early April to Mid November) for the right couple to live on property and manage most day to day operations of the Inn. The owners live nearby and will still be very present to the business and will provide full training and full support.
The couple should have the following skill sets and abilities:
-First and foremost, must LOVE people and want to serve them, be able to connect with people from all walks of life and make them feel comfortable.
-Top notch phone and customer service skills.
-Computer skills – able to learn online booking software to input guest data, greet and check in guests, and make reservations.
-Detail oriented – we pride ourselves on providing extremely clean accommodations.
-Management skills – must be a positive and efficient team leader as you will help co-manage (with the owners) a cleaning and laundry staff of 6-8 during peak summer months. You will also clean alongside them and lead by example.
-Knowledge of the area very helpful as guests often look for recommendations for places to eat and things to do.
This position is very physical and will require cleaning, lifting, making beds, doing laundry, and serving a continental breakfast (no cooked items except hard boiled eggs) during the peak season. Some maintenance and outdoor work required in summer. Fix it skills a plus for one member of the team but not a deal breaker if not. Very busy and long hours in summer – whatever it takes to get the job done and keep guests happy. There may be opportunity for the couple to remain in the main house during the winter months when the Inn is closed, outside of the 7 month contract.
There is a salary PLUS 100% free lodging in a very nice furnished home, including utilities, trash removal and cable television. Portions of the home completely private and portions are used for supplies and walk-through for employees in summer/fall. The free lodging with utilities adds an significant savings value to the position because the only expenses you will have are vehicle(s), mobile phone and food. There is potential for monetary bonus opportunities based upon revenue goals and performance and there is opportunity to grow in this position with annual raises based upon the success of the Inn, should we find the right couple that would like to stay on long term.
Non-smoking candidates only considered and no pets. Background check will be conducted on candidates that move forward in the process. Due to the nature of the position, couples with children in the home are not suitable for the position.
